Client: The James + James brand story is about two founders with the same name and a shared vision of creating affordable, top-quality, real-wood furniture. In 2011, they made their first coffee table in a garage and sold it online. Soon, they started getting orders for dining tables, benches, nightstands, and more. Today, James + James is a fast-growing enterprise that distributes products in all 50 US states and 6 countries.
The Challenge
As the demand for James + James furniture grew, the company faced several challenges:
- They needed many more pictures for their online catalogs than before.
- Traditional promo photoshoots for every piece went beyond the marketing budget and slowed down production.
- It was crucial that visuals looked indistinguishable from real photos to inspire trust and help buyers make confident purchasing decisions.
Our Approach
In October 2020, James + James reached out to CGIFurniture. By the second half of 2021, our 3D rendering company had already delivered more than 85 photorealistic modeling and rendering projects for the brand, and the collaboration continues. The work included a full scope of CGI services.
High-Poly Furniture 3D Modeling
The brand managers provided product dimensions, photos with measurements, and links to existing models. Our 3D artists recreated the geometry, submitted greyscale models for approval, and saved final files in glb/obj format.

Lifestyle 3D Rendering with a Neutral Background
The client's team requested lifestyle renders indistinguishable from real photos. Our artists applied precise textures, adjusted lighting, and set camera angles to achieve photorealism. Requirements included checking all dimensions (for example, tabletop thickness 1.75″ and desks 1.5″), manually creating textures in 3ds Max and uploading them to the client’s library, centering the product in every composition, and delivering final resolution in 4k.

Lifestyle 3D Rendering with Rustic and Coastal Aesthetics
The brand’s preferred styles were rustic or coastal, simple and minimalistic, with no extra décor. Every lifestyle render followed this vision to keep consistency.

Furniture Frame 3D Modeling

The Results
Each completed 3D visualization project was integrated into the James + James e-commerce website. CG images now appear across the online catalog, product detail and listing pages, as well as landing and home pages.
The renders are so photorealistic that it is impossible to distinguish them from actual photographs. They provide customers with a complete understanding of every item and support well-informed purchase decisions. By replacing costly photoshoots with CGI, James + James scaled content production, reduced expenses, accelerated catalog updates, and reinforced their credibility as a trusted furniture brand in the US and global markets.
